User Manual - Project Module
From DotProjectWiki
PROJECT MANUAL LINKS
The Project Module is used to manage and review all project activity at that major / top level. You can also use the User Manual - Tasks for managing the day to day / task based activities.
You'll notice in the top right hand side of the module header The User Interface#Module Headers there is a box labelled Company / Division - this filter is automatically set to the company that the user who is logged in belongs to. The list of projects is therefore automatically filtered to just those that match that company (and that the user has Permission to access.)[1]

1 Project Status Tabs
When you access the Projects Module, you'll notice, that as per standard dotProject layout, this screen is divided into tabs - based on Project Status. Projects are then sorted into those tabs to make listing them easy / quick. You can modify the terminology used in these tabs if required - please refer to Configuration#Project Type
1.1 Listing Columns
The columns incorporated in the project display are:
| Color | Colours are assigned to projects as a visual "grouping". See also Using_Colour_as_Project_Status |
| Company | Company that project belongs to |
| Project Name | Full name / id of the project |
| Start | Project Start Date |
| End | Project End Date (as estimated) |
| Actual | Actual End Date (as calculated from the last end date on all the tasks associated with the project) - ie the latest end date of any of the tasks that are associated with this project. |
| P | Project Priority (in early versions of dotProject) as of 2.1 it shows a flag whenever a task log has had the problem flag ticked on in any of the tasks associated with the project (note the only way to clear this flag is to remove the flag on the task log). (The system should also be showing priority with the task log problem flag only overwriting if it exists - bug report lodged in 2.1.1 dotProject). |
| Owner | Project Owner |
| Tasks (My) | This column lists the total number of tasks followed by the number of tasks that the current user is actually assigned to |
| Selection | Tick box to select a project - see User Manual - Project Details#Update Project Status |
| Status | Indicates the current status of the project (along with the total number of projects that are in the same status - see |
Many of the names within this table are actually links to further displays, for example, clicking on the Project Name will take you straight to the Project Detail display. User Manual - Project Details
2 Sortable Columns
The Project listing is broken down into specific columns of information as outlined above. You can click on those column headings to change the sort from ASCENDING to DESCENDING (toggles between the two orders).[2]
3 Update Project Status
Using a combination of the Selection column and the Update Project status box at the bottom of the project listing, you can change project statuses in bulk. Simply "tick" to turn on selection and then choose the new status option you require from the popup listing.
