Contents

1 Spam / Inappropriate Use

Use this site to SPAM, advertise, heckle, abuse or in any other way for anything inappropriate and we'll ban you from the entire dotProject community effective immediately. We will also report you to your own ISP and any other appropriate authorities requesting that action be taken against you.

2 Defacement / Deletion / Editing of Text

Any attempts at defacement, deletion or editing of existing text for any reason, unless you are an authorised editor and member of the Dev Team will be regarded as vandalism and action will be taken immediately as per Spam / Inappropriate Use above.

3 Using Inappropriate Approaches

Unfortunately on the Internet it's very easy to be seen as anonymous or unable to be traced, or to forget that at the other end of the communication transaction there is another human being. As a result of that standards of inter-human communication can suffer. We would take this moment to remind you that behaving badly, being rude, abusive or childish does nothing to advance your cause, can have considerable impact on the recipient or, if the recipient is wise enough, will result in your rapid expulsion from the community.

Please don't behave poorly here, on our forums, our IRC channel or anywhere else connected with dotProject. We understand that frequently you can be feeling frustrated and will sometimes let that frustration show in your use of language, smileys or other methods - try to remember the good old adage that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar OR at the very least, acknowledtge that you're feeling frazzled. We've all been there and can sympathise if we don't feel you're just sounding off because you can. But remember, your admins are older than you think, and very used to wiping your existence from their minds and from their loungerooms and not giving you a second thought.

4 Wiki Syntax

See http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Editing or other relevant sources.

5 Reporting Errors

Any errors in the text of the documentation site or / incorrect page redirects etc please report to (Karen via private messages on the forums would be the easiest).

6 Why Can't Everyone Edit the Wiki

We've had problems with people making inaccurate suggestions, providing inappropriate documentation, not checking their facts or generally behaving badly in the past and cleaning up after them takes too much time so edit access is disabled. (Mediawiki doesn't allow access to discussion pages without having general access to all pages as far as our investigations have indicated, so everything's locked down). If you have a suggestion regarding documentation please report as per Reporting Errors above or you can lodge a feature suggestion on http://bugs.dotproject.net - choose the documentation project.
